Gautam Gambhir names Dhruv Jurel’s India XI for opening BGT 2024-25


Team India wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel is likely to find a place in the playing XI for the upcoming first Test of the five-match series. series against Australia in Perth. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 series between India and Australia will begin on November 22. The first test will be played at Optus Stadium in Perth. However, with the match just days away, there is still no confirmation on the team combination for the series opener.

Jurel was part of the match against Australia A at the MCG and made an impact with the bat in both innings of the match in Australian conditions.

The keeper-batsman recorded back-to-back fifties in the two innings of the match. He played a brilliant 186-ball 80-run game when he came in at 11-4 in the first innings. Jurel then scored 68 runs off 122 balls in the second innings. The 23-year-old also received praise from former Australian captain Tim Paine.

According to RevSportz, the team management has decided to include Dhruv Jurel in the playing XI for the upcoming Test after his strong performance against Australia. A. Jurel is expected to take the 6th place. With both Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill absent, the team’s top order remains uncertain.

Rishabh Pant will be the wicketkeeper for India and Jurel is expected to be included as a middle-order batsman. Prior to the India A series against Australia A, Jurel scored 93 runs for Rest of India in the Irani Cup against Mumbai. Jurel took advantage of every opportunity he was given in his limited career.

Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill to Miss Perth Test at BGT 2024-25

The Uttar Pradesh-born cricketer made his debut against England in Rajkot. He showed composure under pressure and scored 46 runs. In the second Test against England at Ranchi, the right-handed batsman scored 90 runs and scored 39* to win the Man of the Match award for his batting efforts.

India’s top order is uncertain with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill unavailable. If KL opens with Rahul Yashasvi Jaiswal, the team will need Abhimanyu Easwaran and No.3 man. Devdutt Padikkal is a potential option. Virat Kohli could have been considered, but he thrived at No.4.

Ajinkya Rahane In 2020-21, he took over as captain when Virat Kohli left the tour. Rahane has led India to success in two of the last three Tests. Now head coach Gautam Gambhir will manage this challenge as the team prepares for the Sarhad-Gavaskar series.
