Indian National Cricket Team head coach Gautam Gambhir and the team’s chief selector Ajit Agarkar were seen having a heated conversation after the third Test against the New Zealand National Cricket Team. The hosts suffered a 25-run defeat at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Defeat in the final match of the Test series against the New Zealand National Cricket Team meant that the Indian National Cricket Team also lost the three-match series. It was the first time the hosts faced a whitewash in a Test series at home.

The Indian National Cricket Team looked extremely fearsome with bat and ball throughout the series. They were unremarkable and it cost them dearly as they went on to lose the Test series at home after 12 long years and also lost crucial World Test Championship points with the final around the corner.

One of the main reasons behind the defeat of the Indian team was the poor form of skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The premiership batsmen struggled in all three games and looked hot with the bat against both quicks and spinners.
With Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma not making an impact, many are now questioning their place in the team. There have been many calls for an overhaul of the team in the format and many are of the opinion that both should be out of Tests.
Amidst all this, BCCI chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar wasted no time and was seen chatting with Gautam Gambhir. He was seen discussing with head coach and assistant coach Abhishek Nayar and the trio was seen engaging in a long, intense conversation.

Gautam Gambhir has come under a lot of scrutiny as the head coach of the team
One major cause of concern for Ajit Agarkar and Gautam Gambhir could be India’s batting and inability to chase down achievable targets. By 37, the Indian cap fell to spin, which in itself was the biggest thing, as Indian batsmen are generally touted as good spin players.
Gautam Gambhir in particular has come under the scanner. Things have not been going well since he was appointed head coach of the team. They first suffered a series defeat to Sri Lanka in ODIs and now a series defeat to New Zealand in Tests at home would not do any good.
