Wild Card Bencic split into the penultimate game by overthrowing the third 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 Gauff Gauff to reach the Indian Wells quarterfinals today.
Serving in the 4th, 40-love in decision makers, Guff destroyed the lead, lost the service and ultimately the match in the following match.
The WTA final reign champion made eight double mistakes-13 less than 21 double career mistakes that she stuck in her first round victory Undergo.
Guff then said she believes she is making efforts trying to sharpen her second service and stabilize once fragile, but suggested that some of her practice progress is not translated into the match court.
Still less than five months left her setting up at the WTA final championship, Guff said she was not beating herself during her slow start by 2025.
“In general, I feel like, I mean, it’s not as bad as it seems, I think. I mean, the beginning of the year, I did well in the united cup and lost in the fourth round of Paula (Badosa) in Australia,” Guff said. “The Middle East was not a great pace for me. Here, I mean, I lost 6-4 in the third in the fourth round against a tough opponent going from a 500 win.
“Of course I wanted to do better, I want to have better results, but it’s not something I can crush myself. I’m trying to do better, and that’s all I can do. I’m trying to work on things in practice, and unfortunately now it’s not translating how I would like.”
At the time of the crisis today, Bencic struck the mistakes of Gaufand’s wing bleeding to seal its quarter -final return.

Guff said she has moved her control slightly to the service and aims to serve more aggressively.
“We changed a lot with the service,” Guff said. “I don’t want to get into its specifics, but yes, I mean, I went to the Practice Court after the first day and then after the next day.
“You know, I still think I could have served better. It was definitely more consistent, but I definitely wanted to become more aggressive with it. It was one of those things where I started the tournament not to serve well, so it is more just trying to put it.”
