Gary Antuanne Russell put Richardson Hitchins on his radar

The newly crowned WBA Super-Lightweight World Champion Gary Antuanne Russell does not have a scheduled opponent, but he was in the gym and staying ready for battle because he placed a 140-pound co-belt holder on his radar.

Three months ago, Russell achieved the biggest victory in his professional career so far as he won the WBA world title in a dominant way. Now the new world champion is focused on winning more gold, as a possible unification has raised his interest.

Capitol Heights, the native of Maryland, Gary Antuanne Russell, made his professional boxing debut in May 2017 and achieved a first round TKO victory over Josh Ross. Russell would defeat his next 16 opponents.

He was given a great opportunity in June 2024 when he intended to oppose Alberto Puello in a struggle for the vacant WBC-TUSShrian Super-Lightweight title. The Russell vs Puello fight was an entertaining back-and-forth battle, but in the end, Puello won with a split decision.

Nine months later, Russell received another title event when he faced WBA world champion Jose Valenzuela. In the opening round of the attack, Russell was very aggressive as he pushed forward and landed a sharp stitch.

During the early stages of the fight, Russell Jose Venezuela overwhelmed with his volume and his accuracy. Russell was able to maintain the high volume pace throughout the competition, while he was after a unanimous victory in the decision.

With the victory, Gary Antuanne Russell (18-1, 17 COs) became the new WBA Super Lightweight World Champion. Now, 29-year-old Russell is one of the four belt containers in the 140 pound division.

Gary Antuanne Russell, known as the Boogeyman of the weight class, is ready to crawl on the other champions and unite the belts. Russell would like to have a match against WBO champion Theofimo Lopez or a Rematch against WBC champion Alberto Puello, but the boxer currently on his radar is the IBF champion.

Richardson Hitchins had an excellent performance on the night of June 14, while stopping George Kambosos Jr. in the eighth round. After Hitchins made a statement within the ring, Hitchins expressed interest in the fight against Theofimo Lopez or Devin Haney.

Gary Antuanne Russell couldn’t help but notice that his name was not mentioned. Russell continued to publish a post on social media to address his thoughts on the omission.

“How can a man lose my 4x in the amateurs, we both have belts in the same section, and yet you don’t even want to fight against me. Boxing gets soft for really. I will fight someone, as long as it is sense, money or legacy. ‘

Gary Antuanne Russell expressed his desire to clean the division of 140 pounds, and he wants to start the process with his amateur box co-richer Richardson Hitchins. Russell made the cry, but the question is: Will Richardson respond Hitchins to the exclamation, or pretend to never happen?
