The personal monitoring space monitor can be one of the fastest growing categories when it comes to golf technology. New players are entering space every day.
Garmin, Well known for their GPS devices and intelligent watchesIt’s been in the Golf Launch Monitor game since 2021 when she introduced Garmin R10 Accesswho is probably the best personal start monitor at $ 500 or less.
But now the company is swinging for fences of the biggest names on the launch monitors with the release of Garmin R50 Access Launch Monitor and Simulator.
I can really say that R50 is different from any other launch monitor I have seen before. Let’s take a look at what I loved for Garmin R50 and what I think they can improve as Garmin finds its groove in this ever -growing market.
What did I like:
The big screen
Perhaps the first thing you notice about Garmin R50 is its size compared to other departure monitors. This is in large part due to the 10-inch mass screen that is built into the unit. What is what really makes this unit a monitor and imitators of all-in-one.
This is not the first departure monitor to display the data immediately on the screen, but this is the first to show the ball flight and even allows the right simulation within the unit itself.
There are some excellent uses for this: 1) You can practice the same shots that you will hit in the Golf Course while raising in the running range. 2) Much is much easier to create a home simulator configuration without a screen. 3) There is no need for another device.
The screen is large enough and bright enough to be seen in direct sunlight and the screen can be configured to indicate ball flight, data metrics, impact video, or impact data and data.

Not to mention, there is little delay in registering a blow. You get a swing and you can see data on the screen (and track the ball flight) before the ball comes down if you are out.
Optical monitor
R50 is one of several personal starting monitors at the price point below $ 5k that uses an optical -based boot monitoring system compared to radar. Instead, the R50 has three high -speed cameras to capture ball and impact data.
This is important because the starting optical monitors are more accurate indoors when the ball flight is limited. Radar -based start -up monitors are usually created to follow the golf ball all the way from impact to landing and place behind the player. When the ball flight is limited inside, accuracy decreases, and while Radar -activated golf balls It can help, it is not yet compared to optical systems.
Optical systems like R50 are positioned on the player side and capture all the data they need in just a few meters of flight after impact.
Like other optical systems, the R50 needs reflective markers (known as fiduals in the appropriate world) located in Clubhead to obtain Clubhead data, but makes it more accurate than radar systems. The R50 needs only one marker located in the top center of the club’s face.
Ability to play any course designed by Garmin
When the R50 has one foot on many other boot monitors is the ability to use it as an imitator without other equipment. You can use R50 as a starting monitor with some popular golf simulation platforms such as E6 Connect and GSPRO, but you can also use the integrated Home Hero app.
With the Home Tee Hero app, you can play more than 43,000 courses that Garmin has designed for its GPSS and smartwatches.
If you want to use a screen to improve the simulation experience, there is no problem, as there is an HDMI port immediately at the back of the unit.

What can be improved:
Data
If there is a spectrum of being more professionally against recreation, R50 will fall more towards the recreational side and that is very well.
While R50 shows more than 15 data metrics, including club speed, ball speed, rotation and more, they are best viewed in the unit itself. When you withdraw your practice sessions in the Golf Golf app, the same metrics are not visible. There is also an optimized iPad application.
An iPad app or online browser that would allow the data to be analyzed after a practical session would be a big step towards making R50 more valuable as a serious tool than just a recreation tool.
Transportability
Now we are just being chosen. R50 is a large unit and the holding case is greater than the average backpack.
This will ultimately not affect many shopping decisions, but if you are looking for a unit, you can keep goals in the Golf Course as the best, this is probably too big about it.
Ultimately

Garmin R50 Access
$ 4,999.99
Play all year with the R50-Simulator Premium Golf and Launch Monitor approach that puts you on the course to play your best game by drive to putt.
Also available in: Amazon, Garmin
If I am joining a golf imitative at home, Garmin R50 approach is probably the best unit in the market in terms of accuracy and ease of use in its price range.
This is before you consider the screen and all the additional uses it offers.
Whether you need your basement/garage hit by the breast or a companion to get into the range and call to your numbers, Garmin R50 is a tremendous option.
