Ryan Garcia vs. Mario Barrios undercard was revealed on social media today for February 21, 2026. The point is that the card is still just a skeleton that is filled with fights.
Two of the fights may not attract much interest, making fans less likely to order them on DAZN PPV.
The undercard for Mario Barrios vs Ryan Garcia on February 21st
- Armando Reséndiz vs. Edgar Berlanga – WBA super middleweight
- Gary Antuanne Russell vs Andy Hiraoka – WBA light welterweight
- Lester Martinez vs. TBA
Turki Alalshikh will participate in the event as a sponsor, but it is a PBC event. The news for the undercard was revealed by boxing insider Julius Julianis tonight.
What will disappoint fans is Edgar Berlanga who has been given a world title shot against WBA interim 168-lb champion Armando Resendiz. Berlandez is coming off a knockout loss to Hamzah Sheeraz on July 12 in Queens, New York. It appears that Resendiz-Berlanga is the co-feature on the February 21st card.
Edgar has lost two of his last three fights. It’s an odd fight that doesn’t move the needle with fans outside of the Brooklyn, New York area. If Berlanga had some wins, it would be good to have him fight for a world title against Resendiz.
But his record is 1-2 in his last three fights. If we treat boxing like other sports, where you have to earn the championship games or matches by winning, Berlanga should not be fighting Resendiz. It sends a bad message to have him in this kind of fight.
Hiraoka vs. Gary Antuanne Russell doesn’t do much to generate interest in this career. The 29-year-old is number 1 in the WBA, but his CV is barren of name opponents. I believe it would be more interesting for fans to scratch Hiraoka off the card and replace him with Ernesto Mercado or Keyshawn Davis.
