“It”s’ is disappointing. It was not the level I wanted to bring, but it’s a step in the right direction I feel, and I think emotionally this week, I think today I just went inside, and maybe I was a little empty,” Gaufff said. “She forced me to win every point there today.”
Despite the crackdown on the loss, Gauff remains with clear eyes for her journey. She acknowledged the difficulty of navigating the rhythm of the summer court as she tried to correct the shortcomings in her service, and honestly spoke about the pressure she felt to succeed at a young age.
“I don’t know. I think today when I walked to trial – and, I don’t know, I feel as if I did so much pressure on myself at the age of 21, and I understand how many girls in the tournament were successful in 25, 26 years old,” she said. “For me it just excites me to figure out if I have another four years working as much as I am now and actually doing the right things, like where my game could be.”
Gauff has nothing to shame – she has already captured two of the last nine diplomas and remains one of the brightest young stars in tennis. Instead of resting on her laurels, she is committed to refining her game, especially her service, through constant working with biomechanics specialist Gavin Macmillan.
“It’s been a harsh step behind the Frenchman for me,” Guff said. “I know the improvements I have to make, and I feel like making the right decision by making them.”
She says she plans to take the treatment of the rest of the season as a heat for Australian Open 2026, focusing slightly on results and mainly on continuing its service development. ))
“I think there is a lot of positive to get from this tournament, and I’m trying to be positive in front of you guys,” she said. “I promise you I don’t feel so now, but I will not let this crush me.
“I look forward to the future and make more improvements. Yes, I hope next year I can grow a lot as a player and as a person.”
