Gabriela Fundora dominates Badillo and is now considering going down a weight class

On the night of April 19 at the Frontwave Arena in Oceanside, California, the undisputed flyweight champion Gabriela Fundora Marilyn Badillo (19-1-1, 3 COs) stopped in the 7th round.

Boxing is a sport that categorizes fighters by levels, and on Fight Night, Fundora proved that she was the levels above Badillo. The fight was never in doubt because Fundora could do what she wanted to do at the offensive end.

In the opening round of the attack, the Southpaw Gabriela Fundora was in full control, while she regularly pushed forward and landed the straight left hand. Marilyn Badillo’s plan was to push Fundora back, but in the 1st round Badillo fought from the back foot.

The 5’3 ″ Marilyn Badillo faced the ultimate challenge, as she went up against an undisputed champion who had noticeable physical benefits. Gabriela Fundora has a 6-inch height benefit and an 8-inch benefit.

In the second round, Badillo remained low and tried to slip and roll the shots, but Fundora could still make contact with the stitch, the left hand and sharp combinations. Badillo was drawn too much from a physical as well as a talent point of view, but she kept trying to offend.

Badillo landed a solid upper hand in fourth place and some good body shots in the fifth round. Fundora dropped her opponent in sixth place as she landed heavy shots on the head and body.

Fundora seems to be going to the knockout in the 7th as she continued to land a series of hard power photos. With 24 seconds left to go in the 7th round, Fundora Badillo stopped when she made contact with a left hand that crashed Badillo to one knee.

Gabriela Fundora (16-0, 8 COs) is the ruling queen of the 112 pound section. During her interview after the fight, Fundora mentions her interest in the transition to 108.

Currently at 108, Evelyn Bermudez holds the WBO and IBF belts. If Gabriela Fundora decides to move down, she will probably put the United Champion Bermudez on her radar.

At the age of 23, the undisputed flyweight champion Gabriela “Sweet Poison” Fundora has already won one division. If she decides to go to junior flyweight, she may have the chance to join Claressa Shields and Katie Taylor as the only female boxers who are undisputed in two divisions.
