Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn is concerned that Tyson Fury may choose not to fight again after losing to Oleksandr Usyk three weeks ago.
‘The Gypsy King’ undoubtedly stole his second defeat against the talented Ukrainian, salty about what he believes was another robbery.
Empty Spectacle
Fury has already made a boatload of money and sits like a king atop a massive fortune estimated to $160 million smacks He doesn’t need the extra dough that two fights against Joshua would bring him. Tyson can freeze AJ, Hearn and the fans just for the hell of it.
Joshua-Fury is seen by the boxing public as two has-beens anyway, and it would be seen as greedy if they were to fight now. The public would be excited to see this match if the fight took place a few years back.
Now, it’s two broke old British guys, both filthy rich beyond anyone’s wildest dreams, looking for their massive J. Paul Getty-esque fortunes.
“Tyson Fury is the fight he wants,” said Eddie Hearn Sky Sports Boxing about Anthony Joshua wanting a fight against Tyson Fury in 2025. “The real key in this is Tyson Fury. He is three weeks after a defeat. He’s probably still upset, probably still thinking about that defeat. We have to see if he wants to fight again, and if he does want to fight again, what else can Fury do?”
Looking like a concerned ice cream vendor at the Ring Awards, Hearn talked about the Fury-Joshua fight. It would be better if Turki Al-Shiekh chooses to let AJ and Tyson earn this fight by insisting that they first take these fights to show that they still have it:
- Anthony Joshua vs Martin Bakole
- Tyson Fury vs. Daniel Dubois
If Joshua & Fury pass these tests, it would make sense for Turki to pull the trigger on this fight. At least the fans could respect that.
