Promoter Frank Warren believes that the Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury trilogy takes place before a clash between Fury and Anthony Joshua, provided the Gypsy King wins on December 21.
Warren tell talkSport that he expects the Usyk-Fury trilogy to take place before a Fury takes on Joshua. It would make sense for Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) to fight Usyk immediately in a trilogy if he wins the December 21 rematch in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, Fury will probably lose this fight.
Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) had Fury’s number in their previous fight on May 18 and was one shot away from knocking him out in the ninth round. Fury’s recent physical appearance suggests he is not in the best of shape as he believes he can fight his way to victory in the rematch on December 21.
If Usyk defeats Fury again, it’s going to be bad for the Gypsy King, and he may have to start thinking about retirement. If His Excellency Turki Alalshikh is still interested in a fight between Fury and Joshua, it will be a tough sell without Tyson redeeming himself against a world-class contender.
Joshua, 35, was destroyed by Daniel Dubois in a fifth-round knockout on Sept. 21, and he looked awful in that fight.
