Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn says he wants former heavyweight champions Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury to fight twice in 2025, regardless of the outcome of Fury’s rematch with Oleksandr Usyk on December 21.
Hearn points out that if Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) prevails against unified three-belt heavyweight champion Usyk in their rematch at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, it makes the Joshua fight bigger.
“I think Fury vs AJ is the fight regardless, in all honesty. People keep telling me, ‘Oh, AJ isn’t matching Dubois right now’ – not true. AJ’s rematch against Dubois on February 22; he still wants to fight him, and AJ will return in May or June, and it might be against Daniel Dubois, still the biggest fight there for Dubois. But we also understand that the Fury fight is a monster and always will be a monster,” Hearn told iFL TV.
“Win or lose to Fury (Usyk on December 21), I think those two should fight twice next year. But if Fury can do the business, it makes Fury vs AJ for the unified heavyweight title, and that would be huge.”
