WBC promoter and WBO junior middleweight champion Sebastian Fundora, Sampson Lewkowicz, says he will meet with the team this week to decide which ‘The Towering Inferno’ will go to his next battle to his fourth round Tko victory over Chordal Booker (23-2, 11 costs on Saturday night in the Michelob Ultra Arena.

Fundora (22-2-1, 14 CO’s) says he is willing to defend next against his WBO duty Xander Zayas, but Lewkowicz says he wants to discuss the options. There are more profitable fights for Fundora there against Errol Spence and Jermell Charlo.
The Zayas mandate
These are bigger names than 22-year-old Zayas. The top ranking will press their fighter, Xander, to get his mandate title against Fundora. The WBO has made it clear that they want Fundora to face next. They have 120 days to make the fight happen.
If Fundora evacuates, it will not worry the highest rank because they want Zayas to hold the title, and no matter how he gets his hands on the belt. If he holds a title, it will ratify him for fans in the New York area and in his native Puerto Rico. It is much better for the best rank if the WBO belt is evacuated, because Zayas is not in the same galaxy as fundora talent. It just needs Zayas to have that title, so he can milk it against soft opposition and fight millions in New York.
Fundora must make the right decision because you never know how a fight will run out. Tonight he looked wonderful and knocked Booker in the fourth round and got a standstill moments later. It was Sebastian’s first fight in a year, and he seemed to have never left.
“We have many big fighters in this section in 154. We have one of them in the crowd, Zayas. I can’t wait to share the ring with him,” Sebastian Fundora said Press conference after battle Saturday night after his fourth round victory over Chordale Booker.
Promoter’s choice
“Then we have these other big names. We will see where the belts are going. I only need two other belts. If that happens, Puerto Rico will be a big fight against Mexico, “Fundora said of him and Xander Zayas. “It’s a wonderful Latin battle. Boxing needs it now. ‘
“It will be a good fight, but we need a few days to sit with the team to make a decision where we want to go,” said the promoter Sampson Lewkowicz about the next battle for Sebastian Fundora.
