Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies is nearing the end of his contract and could start negotiating a free transfer abroad in just a few weeks.
So it’s no surprise to see continued speculation about the Canada international, who is one of the best left-backs in the world on his day, and is still only 24, so with plenty of time to improve.
It is still unclear whether Davies will leave Bayern for good or possibly agree to sign a new contract there, but it seems that if he does move to the Premier League, his most likely destination is Liverpool.
BIG “here we are” update from Fabrizio Romano!
This according to a report by The Athleticwho claim that a number of industry sources believe that is where Davies could go next, even if sources at the club have denied it.
LFC might do well to think about a long-term replacement for Andrew Robertson, who has probably started to show signs of his age with a slight dip in form at times this season.
Alphonso Davies is not attracted to the transfer of Manchester United
Athletic also claims it Davies would not see Manchester United as an attractive destination right now, which is perhaps not too surprising.
Although Man Utd is a huge club and brand in world football, they are currently going through a difficult transition period and do not look likely to have a bid for Champions League football next season.
Liverpool are much more stable and look set for another successful spell under new manager Arne Slot, who has been superb since replacing the legendary Jurgen Klopp in the summer.
Davies would certainly be a good signing for Unitedwho need a new left-back to give them an upgrade on the injury-prone Luke Shaw, but they may have to look elsewhere.
Arsenal and Chelsea are also mentioned as potential suitors for Davies in The Athletic’s report.
