Francesco Bagnaia has slammed the MotoGP media over a series of ‘scandal hunts’. Bagnaya has faced more criticism than any other rider in recent times.

Speaking onBSMT‘ podcast recently, Bagnaya said his choice is to be ‘transparent’ with the media, but he understands that this approach is risky.
The Italian accused the press of ‘twisting’ his words to create ‘controversy’. He also defended his occasional frustrations behind the microphone, pointing out that he had to answer the same questions countless times.
Riders are obligated to speak to select television networks and print media from around the world.
“In my opinion, unfortunately, lately we’ve been associated with insanity at the media level,” Bagnaia said. “It’s just scandal, controversy, constant hunting, whatever you say gets twisted any way you want.
“I want to be very clear, but I have to limit myself. The times I’ve been clear, I’ve been fodder for journalists and I’ve made mistakes. There have been times when I’ve made the mistake of immediately going and doing the interview.”
“There are 10, 12 TV channels, you go to a media bar and there are 15 journalists and everyone asks you the same question. The first answer is you’re more diplomatic, you get to the second answer where you’re less diplomatic, you end up really letting off steam.”
Bagnaya admits that he is not entirely blameless, generating some damaging headlines. Sometimes he regrets visiting the media pen too quickly instead of taking time to gather his thoughts.
Last year, one of the most eye-catching quotes of Bagnaia was after the Austrian GP, where he finished a disappointing eighth. #63 said to the team that he was ‘running out of patience’.
“That was one of those times I got it wrong,” he reflected. “Then these things go around the world.”
Basically, Bagnaia chalked up his 2025 problems to mechanical, while Ducati seemed to have concluded that their rider had lost confidence.
In the coming weeks, they are expected to announce that their long-serving star will join Apria next season, replacing Pedro Acosta.
