Former England bowler James Anderson has declared Virat Kohli as the greatest chaser in the history of cricket



In the latest episode of Tailenders Podcast, veteran England cricketer James Anderson He praised India’s batting superstar Virat Kohlicalling him “the greatest chaser of all time” in the history of cricket. Anderson’s comments came in recognition of Kohli’s extraordinary record in tracking his target scores in his cricketing career.

Widely celebrated for his exceptional performance under pressure, Kohli has amassed 7,852 runs in successful chases, making him the second highest run-scorer in such scenarios only behind him. Sachin Tendulkarwho has 8,720 runs in similar situations. Anderson highlighted Kohli’s remarkable consistency and bravery in these high-stakes moments.

“I don’t know if there is a better batsman in the history of the game than Virat Kohli, his chase record is absolutely phenomenal. It’s ridiculous that he scored hundreds chasing points in the second innings. Anderson said.

Asked whether Kohli was the best white-ball finisher, Anderson clarified that he was referring to Kohli’s exceptional record in chasing targets rather than his overall white-ball finishing ability. He admitted that Australia Michael Bevan as a legendary finisher.

I can’t say that. I was thinking more about just chasing, Bevan coming in at number six and doing that was just phenomenal,” Anderson said.

Anderson highlights Kohli’s chasing prowess and finishing skills

Anderson noted that while Kohli often scored big hundreds when batting at number three to chase down targets, Bevan was known for his ability to score crucial 50s and 60s as a lower-order batsman. Despite this, Anderson admitted that he could not think of a better finisher or white-ball player than Kohli.

“Kohli, batting at No. 3, makes those hundreds, while Bevan was popular for 50s, 60s and overs, while Kohli makes big scores to get his teams out of the order. Honestly, I can’t think of a better finisher and a better white-ball player than him (Kohli).” added the former bowler.

Anderson’s comments highlight not only Kohli’s unparalleled chase record, but also his unique ability to adapt and excel in critical match situations, reinforcing his status as one of the greatest white-ball players in cricket history.
