Augusta, ga. – At 12:10 afternoon on Saturday, the first couple of masters reached the 11th green. But for the untrained eye, something was turned off: only one name, that of Tom Kim, was on that large table in Amen Corner.
Two women looking at were hesitant. Who was the other boy? Maybe an amateur, they thought. Or he was probably just a friend walking. But even this man of the mystery had a caddy, though there was no name in the back of his caddy Jumpsuit. They looked at their leaf. That was not help. They put their heads down and made the cheek through their useful spectator guides.
Disarled, they finally gave up and asked a nearby reporter.
“Good“I started,”His name is Michael Mcdermott, he is a member here, and he is called to play as a master marker when a strange number of players make the cut. So he is playing with Tom Kim but will not maintain an official result.“
“Wow,” replied one. “Affector wonderful opportunity.”
A great opportunity is right! But there was more I NO Say to them, especially this: that Michael McDermott I have play And he loves this phase as well. Mcdermott was hitting balls in the wind in the string Friday afternoon when a friend walked and asked if he was playing on Saturday.
“I hope so,” he said. A few minutes later he got tired of the wind and decided to hit a few strokes. A few hours after that, when 53 players made the cut, McDermott knew he was making his debut on the weekend.

He was wearing classic blue and white legs with Navy pants and an Augusta national belt. He wore a quarter zip of the Logo logo of Augusta on top of a ribbon -striped striped Augusta National Logo. And he wore a Logo-national marine hat of Augusta. His club club tried-you thought that-a standing bag with Augusta National logo.
Kim said he was shocked to see how many defenders were in the first thesis to see them. He said it was more than Thursday.
“Almost felt like I was in the last group on Sunday,” he said. “So many people. I felt more nervous today than I did yesterday.”
Masters Marker is somewhat a legend here, a popular golf hero, one who is not afraid of playing with the best players of the game and has no problem going on.
Mcdermott first played in 2023, taking over the long marker tradition from Jeff knox. Kevin withdrew us with an injury on Thursday’s turn of 2023 and played the second nine alone. McDermott went into action on Friday and played along with 2003 masters Mike Weir. With an equal number of players making the weekend, he was not needed, and the same thing went for 2024. But now he’s back this year.
You will not find much information about Mcdermott on the basis. This club is naked tight-they will not comment on it and Mcdermott does not do interviews-and so are McDermott’s family and friends.
But if you dig a little you can find OTHER USEFUL Bit, like she, the 50-year-old father of three, grew up playing at Llanerch Country Club outside Philadelphia, the 1958 PGA championship home (won by Dow Finsterwald).

He played Golf at the University of St. Joseph and is in the school’s athletic fame. He was named the Golf of the Golf of the Filadelphia player five times from 2000 to 2008 and has even won the CRUMP Cup, often regarded as a middle prime minister and high golf event in the amateur schedule. He played at the 2003 American amateur and defeated the next PGA Tour JB Holmes winner.
He lives in the Philadelphia area and is the Chief Executive Officer of Kathmere Capital Management based on Wayne, without. (Oh, and he also trains youth basketball.)
McDermott’s Ghin Handikap is +3 and he is registered in Pennsylvani Merion -based clubs, the arony and the club in Underbrook Farm. He is also a member of Pine Valley in New Jersey, the world’s most rated golf course.
Of course, he is a member hereAlso, he is a stick that hits the ball one mile. There is A famous story About him driving par-4 11 green from members of 400-Oborres members. In the 10th of Saturday, he exceeded Kim with about 40 Jard-Pastaj with three strokes for Bogey. (No one is perfect.)
“He played greatly,” Kim said. “Hit the ball really far away. His ironies, sometimes he caught a club longer than me. He was a full ballerina.”
Mcdermott does not record an official result. His job is to keep things in motion and not take the way, which is worth mentioning, is NO Easy to make when there are hundreds of people watching. As a marshal says in summary: “Gotten hard to be difficult because you want to play quickly, but you also want to play well.”
Mcdermott did both. Although he chose some holes, Kim says he still shot something in the 1970s.
And with each hole, his legend grew. More people started wondering who it was. Some defenders still think it is Knox. Some actually knew his name. The word spreads quickly around Augusta National.
Walking up to 15 green, McDermott greeted some defenders he knew outside the ropes and said, “How about this day?” It was a good one to be Michael McDermott.
“He definitely helped just some sort of golf rhythm, simply by going out and playing alone and having no momentum or nourishing anyone,” Kim Post-Round, while McDermott talked with friends 15 meters away. “It was good to be able to have a conversation down the road. I enjoyed it personally too.”
Half an hour later, the leaders prepared to go out on Saturday to the masters. At that time Mcdermott was in front of the club, already with his green jacket again. But only for now.
He has another time on Sunday.
