A charismatic contestant will bring pink power to Melbourne this month.

It’s the New Year and new clothes for Frances Tiafoe, who has signed on as a brand ambassador for lululemon.

World No. 17 Tiafoe, who previously wore the Swoosh brand, will debut his new lululemon gear at the Australian Open. Tiafoe will wear a custom Metal Vent Tech Jacket and Pace Breaker Short in Passion Pink, as well as a custom Sojourn Windbreaker Jacket, nodding to his hometown of Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia.

Tiafoe joins former US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez as lululemon’s second celebrity tennis ambassador.

Tiafoe, 26, said he hopes to be a fashion change agent with the brand.

“Lululemon is changing the apparel game by combining high performance and high style,” said Tiafoe. “I’m excited to work with a brand that allows me to express myself and look forward to being a part of the creative process both on and off the field.”

As a lululemon ambassador, Tiafoe will work with the brand to “inform, test and provide feedback on new performance innovations and product designs,” the brand said in a statement.

Tiafoe’s signing and an upcoming spring collection that the brand touts as a “premium range of products in tennis” are signs of lululemon’s expansion into the sport. The brand said feedback from Fernandez and Tiafoe will be used to refine future collections.

“We are very excited to welcome Frances Tiafoe to the lululemon family,” said Nikki Neuburger, Chief Brand and Product Activation Officer. “Our ambassadors play an important role in our brand ecosystem. Not only do they inspire and influence guests around the world, they also directly inform and elevate our performance product through their unique knowledge and expertise.

“We look forward to growing our presence in tennis through our partnership with Frances and continuing to offer best-in-class apparel.”
