Through the middle rounds, the action remained close. Ball had strong moments when he caught Figueroa stepping forward, as Figueroa continued to apply pressure and throw in volume. By the later rounds, the battle was on the line, with Ball still competitive but absorbing more sustained work.
Late finish turns fierce battle on its head
The end came early in the twelfth round. Figueroa landed a left hand to the chin that dropped Ball for a count. Ball rose, but Figueroa immediately followed with a sustained attack that sent Ball back through the ropes, prompting referee Steve Gray to wave the fight off at 0:32 of the round. The strike handed Ball the first loss of his professional career and crowned Figueroa as the new WBA featherweight champion.
In the co-feature, WBC Silver bantamweight champion Andrew Cain recovered from adversity to stop Alejandro Gonzalez in the ninth round of a final eliminator. Cain was dropped twice in the eighth round by body blows, but responded strongly in the ninth by scoring two takedowns of his own before the referee intervened.
WBA International super flyweight champion Jack Turner stopped Juan Carlos Martinez Urbina after three rounds of a scheduled ten round bout. Martinez Urbina was dropped late in the first round and absorbed steady pressure before staying on his chair at the end of the third.
Former European super bantamweight champion Brad Strand forced a third round stoppage against Ruben Lezama Gonzalez. Strand drew blood from Gonzalez’s nose in the second round and finished things off with sustained body strikes early in the third.
Middleweight Stephen Clarke stopped Lewis Howells in the eighth and final round. Clarke applied consistent pressure in the later rounds as Howells tried to see the fight out.
Lucas Biswana scored a first-round stoppage of Liam Macmillan in a welterweight bout, dropping him three times with body shots before referee Mark Lyson stopped the bout.
William Birchall stopped Caine Singh in the opening round of their super featherweight contest after controlling the action from the opening bell.
Jack Swallow earned a six-round decision over Paddy Lacey and scored an upset after landing to the body throughout. Swallow finished the stronger of the two, taking the decision on a 58–57 scorecard.
Luke Turner stopped Jensen Irving in the fourth and final round of their middleweight bout after keeping Irving under pressure for most of the match.
Super featherweight Sam Norris won a four-round decision over Jack England, using his length and work rate to control the action.
Featherweight Hassan Ishaq stopped Leo Baez in the third round and scored a takedown in the second before finishing the fight with a right hand in the third round.
