A quick checklist for the cognoscenti, a useful nuts-and-bolts guide for the boxing neophyte is what we’re aiming for.
Here are this week’s most relevant fights:

Leonardo Rubalcava vs Jesus Castena – junior welterweight – 6 rounds
Where to watch it: DAZN
Saturday, September 14 – T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas
Canelo Alvarez vs. Edgar Berlanga – super middleweight – 12 rounds
Canelo is at a point in his career where he has to juggle between opponents who are either challenging or profitable. Berlanga fits the second option much better than the first one. Berlanga’s string of first-round knockouts went to his head too quickly and he established himself as a superstar too quickly. Canelo is likely to downsize him in a definitive way, all while exploiting the legendary Mexico-Puerto Rico rivalry for their mutual financial interest. Should be fun to watch.
