Favorite bets of the week

In a surprise to no one, Scottie Scheffler is the massive betting favorite to win this week’s World Challenge of Heroesthough that’s to be expected considering his resume, tournament history and a field of just 20 players.

According to The Fanatic’s Sports BookScheffler’s odds to win this week are a ridiculous +140 as he looks to become the winner of Tiger Woods’ event in the Bahamas for the third year in a row. In addition to winning the last two events here, Scheffler was also runner-up the previous two years.

Woods, the host, raved about Scheffler during his press conference Tuesday in Albany.

“What he’s doing on the golf course is just incredible, the consistency day in and day out, the strategy, how he attacks the golf course,” Woods said. “It starts from where you can see him analyzing from the back of the green where the flag is, where he wants to miss a putt, what club to hit, where the wind is blowing, which side of the fairway he should start. It’s really amazing how thoughtful and strategic he is throughout the round. And on top of that, he doesn’t have 8 rounds like most players in a round. Shots played and that’s hard to do that day in and day out with the grueling schedule the Tour has and the players are now playing in a tighter season, and the big events he’s playing in.

“I mean, he won six times and those are no small events,” he continued. “He’s beating the best fields. So that’s something I can certainly appreciate and I think I hope everybody else appreciates as well because you just don’t see that happen very often.”

However, betting on Scheffler isn’t all that fun, especially with the small payouts for correctly predicting his top 10 finishes (especially in small fields like this one).

So for their Fanatics Sportsbook bets of the week, the Subpar GOLF duo of Colt Knost and Drew Stoltz looked elsewhere. Knost picked Alex Noren in the top 10 (-115), while Stoltz picked JJ Spaun to round out the top five (+190).

Noren recently played the HSBC Abu Dhabi Championship and the DP World Tour Championship, finishing in the top 20 in each. Spaun’s last start came at the World Tech Championship in early November, where he tied for 11th. Spaun has finished in the top 25 (including two top 10s) in his last six starts.
