In the first round of the Bank of Utah Championship last year, Stephan Jager finished in sole second, three shots behind winner Matt McCarty. Does this make Jager another safe bet for 2025?
One half of the podcast duo Subpar seems to think so.
For this week Fanatics Subpar bet of the week, Subpar co-host Drew Stoltz picked Jager in the top 20 (+260) at Black Desert Resort Golf Course in Ivins, Utah.
“You have to make a lot of birdies and that’s one guy I know who can make them,” Stoltz said. “He’s streaky, though he’s gotten a lot more consistent. He’s added a lot of length to his game, and that’s part of the reason he’s been so much better the last few years. He can get hot and make a lot of birdies when he gets going.”

For his bet, Subpar co-host Colt Knost picked Taylor Montgomery in the top 20 (+280).
“He’s playing good golf and coming off a top 10 in his last PGA Tour start, and I’ve heard he’s been playing nice golf at home,” Knost said.
Added Stoltz: “It should be a good golf course for him. It’s pretty wide, treeless, hard to get him out of the game here.”
Michael Thorbjornsen is the betting favorite to win at +1400, with Kurt Kitayama and Maverick McNealy (both +1800) coming in with the next best odds. Click here to find out how to watch the action in Utah this week.
