Ryan Garcia posted on social media today saying he is “ready for war,” indicating his readiness to return to the front lines for fights after a setback in a loss to Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero last May.
Barrios in the crosshairs
Garcia did not give a timeline for his return. He did say recently, on October 8, that he wanted to challenge Mario Barrios for his WBC welterweight title. That champion is in high demand, as Conor Benn, Manny Pacquiao and Lewis Crocker have also expressed interest in challenging Barrios (29-2-2, 18 KOs).
Fans fire back
Fans on social media grilled Ryan today about his “ready for war” comment, saying these things:
- “Say that cease.“
- “The worst boxer in the world, Rolly beat you”
- “Whatever you say, diva.”
- “Just give up. GB should have dumped your ungrateful a**.”
- “Are you back on Ostarine?”
The 27-year-old Ryan (24-2, 20 KOs) has had time to heal and rehabilitate his surgically repaired right wrist, an injury he aggravated during a fight with Rolly on May 2, 2025, at Times Square in New York. Kingry reportedly had a wrist problem since December 2024, but still went ahead with the fight with Romero.

“I haven’t said it publicly, but I want Mario Barrios. I’m going to go for it,” Ryan Garcia told The Warroom on ShowBizz’s YouTube channel.
Haney Rematch Temptation
It would be a good idea for Ryan Garcia to get a sure thing for his next fight as he still has an excellent chance to set up a lucrative rematch with Devin Haney.
Former two-division world champion Haney (32-0, 16 KOs) fights Brian Norman Jr. for his WBO welterweight title on 22 November 2025 in Riyadh. Even if Haney loses that fight, there will still be a demand for a rematch between him and Ryan Garcia.
Last year, Ryan made easy work of Haney, knocking him down three times en route to a 12-round majority decision victory on April 20, 2024 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The New York State Athletic Commission later overturned the win after Ryan tested positive for the PED Ostarine.
