Fakhar takes strict action against Zaman agent; Pakistan expelled Kohli-Babar after he was ousted over his Tweet

Pakistani cricketer Fakhar Zaman has parted ways with his agent SAYA Corps following the chaos over his controversial tweet. Fakhar Zaman’s brother Gohar Zaman announced the news in an official tweet.

Notably, Fakhar Azam missed out on the central contract by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) this year. He played 82 ODIs and 92 T20Is for the national team.

He last played for Pakistan during the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup in November last year. Therefore, he has been waiting for almost a year to join the national team.

Agent Fakhar Zaman part ways with SAYA Corps

Fakhar Zaman’s elder brother, Gohar Zaman, posted on social media and announced that he parted ways with his brother’s agent, SAYA Corps. Interestingly, some other players like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan also share association with the same agency.

“As a big brother, I confirm that Fakhar Zaman will no longer be a part of SAYA Corps from today,” he tweeted, reportedly following his agent’s recent tweet in favor of Babar Azam. Although the tweet was in favor of Azam, it created chaos for Zaman.

Fakhar Azam criticized PCB for dropping Babar Azam during the England Test series

Recently, during England’s tour of Pakistan 2024, Babar Azam was dropped by the selectors after his flop show in the 1st Test. The selectors roped in Kamran Ghulam on his behalf.

Fakhar Zaman shared a post on X criticizing voters for the decision and supporting Babar Azam. Citing the example of left-handed batsman Virat Kohli, he said, “It is interesting to hear the suggestions to drop Babar Azam. India did not spare Virat Kohli during his rough streak, averaging 19.33, 28.21 and 26.50 between 2020 and 2023 respectively.”

“If we are thinking of removing the best batsman Pakistan has ever produced, it can send a deeply negative message to the team. There is still time not to press the panic button; We should focus on protecting our key players rather than injuring them,” added Zaman X.

However, the tweet did not go down well with the Pakistan Cricket Board, which issued a show-cause notice to Time as it questioned the selectors’ decisions. The PCB has sought a response within a week.

PCB Time withdraws from central contracts

Interestingly, while Babar Azam has been recalled for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against Australia, Zaman has been dropped from the centre-back contracts. The PCB did not offer Zaman central contracts in October for the 2024-25 cycle.

Commenting on the issue at a press conference, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi said the board will not accept any national player who openly expresses his views against the selection committee. So the tweet in support of Babar Azam backfired and he parted ways with the Time agent.
