Who will win the upcoming rematch between undefeated British heavyweights Fabio Wardley and Frazer Clarke?
On October 12, from the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Wardley and Clarke will go at it again after first decamping in March. It was an engaging clash of styles where the momentum swung back and forth several times throughout the fight, often frequently over the course of many of the individual rounds. Wardley dropped Clarke in round 5, and Clarke also lost a point to a low blow in round 7. At the end of 12 very hard fought and entertaining rounds, the fight was decided as a draw, with scores of 115-112 for Clarke, 114 -113 for Wardley, and the third card had it even at 113 apiece.
This is clearly a very difficult one to predict. Overall, Clarke was the more fundamentally sound boxer, but Wardley’s unpredictable style allowed him to largely offset that, which is the main thing that helped make this clash of styles such an entertaining bout. There is strong reason to believe that general dynamic will remain largely the same in the rematch. With his superior technical boxing skills, will Clarke be the one to make better adjustments in the rematch? Or will Wardley, with his explosiveness and superior athleticism, be able to make the appropriate adjustments this time?
