Shakur Stevenson says he doesn’t care about the money and wants Golden Boy promoter Oscar de la Hoya to make the fight with William Zepeda happen next. WBC lightweight champion Shakur (23-0, 11 COs) is ready to go the wallet-prayer route if an agreement cannot be made with interim champion Zepeda (33-0, 27 COs).
It doesn’t look good for the Shakur-Zepeda fight. The money Shakur thought came from the Saudi came. If the wallet is low, it will not be surprising if Shakur evacuates his WBC title.
Shakur did not mention what his plan B is if he does not fight against William Zepeda next. Shakur says he doesn’t care about money, but he does it, of course, because he complained about Turki -backal lack on his original offer for the Zepeda match.
Woning the WBC title of Shakur is not what it is for Zepeda. Shakur knows what awaits him, so he pushes so hard for the Zepeda fight. He feels he can win, then bypass Andy cruz to go directly to a one -game against Gervonta Davis.
De la Hoya has not said a word since he was posted on social media last week that Stevenson prefers not to go through the fight.
Oscar may look in another direction for Zepeda, which may feel it is not worth fighting Shakur if the money has dried up. If you hold the WBC belt, the Mexican Slugger would place on the hot seat and defend the tire at the highest ranking of Andy Cruz. Why would Zepeda want such headaches?
