“I think I should first dedicate this trophy to Rahul (Dravid) bhai and then to VVS Laxman (bhai)” Gambhir said. “Because I have to thank Rahul bhai for everything he has done to keep Indian cricket in such good shape during his tenure.”

“And then VVS Laxman for doing so much for Indian cricket behind the wickets, unconditionally, because the EC remains the pipeline for Indian cricket.”

Gambhir admitted that the steady supply of talented players coming through this system has bolstered the strength of India’s bench and ensured that the national team is always ready with quality replacements.
