Explained: Which teams will Pakistan face in T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8?



Pakistan secured their place in the Super 8 stage after a 102-run win over Namibia on Thursday (February 18). ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Salman Ali Agha’s side now face a tough road with the team placed in Group 2. New Zealand, England and co-hosts Sri Lanka.

Pakistan’s Super 8 Group: Contenders

The eight qualified teams were divided into two groups of four, and the top two teams from each advanced to the semi-finals. Pakistan finds itself in what many analysts consider a balanced but highly competitive group.

Pakistan’s Super 8 matches will be played at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium (Colombo) and Pallekele International Cricket Stadium (Kandy) in Sri Lanka.

Pakistan Super 8 Schedule: Full Fixtures

The Salman Ali Agha-led side will begin their Super 8 campaign against New Zealand before taking on arch-rivals England and tournament hosts Sri Lanka in a high-stakes group stage.

How did Pakistan reach the Super 8 stage?

Pakistan’s passage to the second round was secured by a dominant performance against Namibia. Sahibzade Farhan Scored an unbeaten 100 off 58 deliveries – also his third T20 World Cup century, behind Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka and Canada’s Yuvraj Samra.

Pakistan’s bowling attack led by mystery spinner Usman Tariq (4/16) and Shadab Khan (3/19) bowled Namibia out for just 97 runs to seal a 102-run victory. The win followed earlier successes against the USA and the Netherlands, the only blemish being a 61-run loss to arch-rivals India on 15 February.

Qualification scenarios for the semi-finals

In the Super 8 stage, each team plays three games – against other sides in a group. No points carry over from the group stage, meaning every match starts over. The top two teams from Group 2 will advance to the semi-finals scheduled for March 4 and 5.

If Pakistan qualify for the semi-finals, their match will be played on March 4 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
