Despite intense interest from PSG and Real Madrid, Manchester United are planning to extend the contract of Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez rather than sell him.
According to CaughtOffside sources, both European giants are preparing to make a move for the player in the near future and this has been the reason why the Red Devils have accelerated the contract issues at Old Trafford to keep the star of 26 years defender

“Lisandro is a very valuable player for our team,” a well-placed club source told CaughtOffside. “We have long-term plans for him and we intend to make them a reality by extending his contract.”
Martinez’s recent performances at Manchester United and his crucial role in central defense have strengthened the club’s commitment to him.

It is precisely in that area of the pitch that Ruben Amorim’s men have struggled this season, and for most of 23/24 under Erik ten Hag.

At least with the courting of Los Blancos and PSG, it has sharpened the focus on United and there has clearly been a concerted effort by the club to not allow the Argentine to escape their clutches.
There is no indication from the player’s camp that they have any interest in moving either way, although when Real Madrid do ask, especially for South American players, it can be hard to turn them down.
If Martínez was tempted to change Manchester for Madrid, however Gleison Bremer is currently injured, was courted by the Premier League club in April and could be a target again next summer.
