Yamaha is the second most successful team in the history of Grand Prix motorcycle racing. Only Honda has won more championships than their rival Japanese manufacturer.
Yamaha Honda holds long-term ambitions of matching the drivers’ title (currently 16 vs 19) and team titles (seven vs 10). The gap is wide for constructors’ crowns (14 vs 25), but they still have more than double the number of trophies for third-placed Ducati (six).
He helped him win four of his seven premier class championships in 2004 and 2009 and became synonymous with the great Valentino Rossi. They also had success with Jorge Lorenzo and recently Fabio Quatararo.

The Yamaha Factory Team is officially known as Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing. The energy drink company has been the title sponsor since 2019.
They have been partners for more than a decade, having first appeared on bicycles in 2013. In 2022, they signed a multi-year extension to their deal.
In the year Between 2014 and 2018, the team was called Movistar Yamaha in an agreement with a Spanish-language telecommunications company. They also have deals with Fiat and tobacco brands Gauloises, Fortuna and Marlboro.

When the American left, they created a complete manufacturing outfit. Management set up shop in the Netherlands, overseeing everything except the technical department.
In the year Founded in the Netherlands in 2005, the group moved to Italy. This allowed the team to work as a unified force.
Yamaha current MotoGP riders
Yamaha currently employs Fabio Quatararo and Alex Rins as their full-time race riders for the 2025 MotoGP season. Quattararo began his MotoGP career with satellite outfit Petronas Yamaha SRT before graduating to the factory team in 2021.
Rins, formerly of Suzuki, joins from LCR Honda for the 2024 campaign. Quattro signed a new deal in April 2024 and the club announced in July that Reigns would be staying for a second season.
Yamaha’s current MotoGP team manager and leadership hierarchy
Yamaha managing director Lynn Jarvis announced in September that he would be stepping down after 26 years in the role. Team leader Kazuhiro Masuda, technical director Massimo Bartolini and team director Massimo Meregalli have taken over from Paolo Pavesio.
Yamaha are the MotoGP builder.
Yamaha is one of five constructors in the MotoGP World Championship, along with Honda, Ducati, KTM and Aprilia. The Satellite team will renew their relationship with the Pramac team for 2025 after ending their two-decade relationship with Ducati.
Which bike will Yamaha make in the 2025 MotoGP season?
Yamaha has yet to reveal the bikes they will run for the 2025 MotoGP season. They are building a V4 engine, but need to determine the shift timing for the inline four.

Between 2004 and 2012, with Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, Yamaha won six titles in 9 seasons. They then endured a near-decade drought before Fabio Quatararo’s 2021 victory.

According to the Yamaha factory
The Yamaha MotoGP team was founded in Italy by Gerno D’Lesmo. This is close to Monza, one of the most famous circuits in the Formula 1 calendar.
The facility was rebuilt in 2008 to house all the departments of the group, and in 2022 there were further updates. Japan-based Yamaha engineers are also involved in the project.
