Aprilia are the smallest of the five factory teams on the MotoGP grid. They achieved that status as recently as 2022, but their history in the premier class dates back even further.

At the beginning of 2015, they started a partnership with the Gresini group. And late next year, they’re set to roll out the first bike built exclusively by their racing division.

They now compete as an official manufacturer outfit, instead Gresini is tied to Ducati. The first three seasons saw seven wins, eight pole positions and 27 podiums.

Aprilia MotoGP team name

Aprilia is simply known as Aprilia Racing. Unlike their construction partners, they currently do not have a title sponsor.

Honda (probably Castrol), Yamaha (Monster Energy), KTM (Red Bull) and Ducati (Lenovo) have all signed lucrative deals, but Aprilia has yet to find it necessary.

Aprilia first entered the They made their senior debut in 1994.

Valentino Rossi rode Aprilia bikes when he won the 125cc title in 1997 and the 250cc crown in 1999.

They would step away from MotoGP for a decade before returning in late 2004 to team up with Gresini. Aprilia will be on the grid in its current form from 2022.

Aprilia has signed 2025 world champion Jorge Martin. Martin agreed to join after losing the Ducati factory seat to six-time premier class champion Marc Marquez.

At the end of June, they announced the signing of Marko Bezecic to a multi-year contract. Multiple race winner Bezsecchi joins from VR46 to complete a new line-up following the retirement of Aleix Espargaro and the departure of Maverick Vinales.

Aprilia current team manager and leadership hierarchy

Massimo Rivola, who previously worked for Ferrari in Formula 1, is the CEO of Aprilia Racing. Former KTM man Fabiano Sterlacchini is the team’s technical director, replacing Honda-bound Roman Albesiano, while Paolo Bonora is sporting director.

Aprilia are the MotoGP developer.

Apria is one of five constructors on the 2025 MotoGP grid, alongside Honda, Yamaha, Ducati and KTM. For 2024 they will be offering bikes to the Trackhouse team who are new entrants and have replaced former Aprilia customers RNF.

Which bike will Aprilia ride in the 2025 MotoGP season?

Apria are yet to announce their bikes for the upcoming season. Last year, Aprilia offered a special bike for Trackhouse One 2024 from the start of the season, before offering another one later in the campaign.

Aprilia MotoGP drivers’ championships

Aprilia has never won any drivers’ titles in the premier class. Espargaro finished fourth with 212 points, his highest ranking to date.

Aprilia MotoGP teams champions

Aprilia’s best result in the teams’ standings is third. Espargaro and Vinales are just three behind KTM in 2022 with 334 points.

Aprilia MotoGP constructors championship

Aprilia has finished third in the Constructors’ Championship for the past three seasons as they chase their first title. Their 326 points in 2023 is their current benchmark.

According to the Aprilia factory

Aprilia was founded in 1945 in Noale, a town in Venice. They started with a bicycle company before they started making motorcycles.

As they approach their 80th birthdays, it remains their primary home. Associate manufacturers Yamaha (Gerno di Lesmo) and Ducati (Bologna) are also present in Italy.
