The British teenager beats the previous record of 4:05.77 with an incredible performance at the British Milers Club meeting in Bury.
Evan Grime set a world best in the mile for his age group, running 4:05.48 at the British Milers Club meeting in Bury (August 26).
The teenager had already clocked 4:11.59 at the BMC Bannister Miles event earlier in the year.
However, Grime took five seconds off his personal best with a world age 15 mile best of 4:05.77 – Corey Campbell ran that time to 4:05.48 at the Monument Mile Classic two years ago.
It means Grime now has the UK under-17 best over the distance and he is also in the top 10 in both UK age-group lists for the 800m and 1500m.
The 15-year-old’s fastest times in the 800m, mile, 1500m and 3000m all come this season.

He ran 1:49.69 in the 800m at the BMC meeting in Manchester in May, then followed that up with 3:47.72 in the 1500m in Loughborough.
As with his mile, Grime’s fastest 3000m came at Bury, with the teenager clocking 8:26.89 earlier this month.
The Salford Harrier has run in front of thousands of people this year, including his 800m win on a 10,000m PB night and finishing seventh in the 1500m at the European Under-18 Championships.
Graeme, who is coached by his father Ian, is also a regular on the cross-country circuit and came second to Joe Skanes in the most recent British Athletics Cross Challenge.
