On 14 December 2025, the SPAR European Athletics Championships were held in Lagoa, Portugal. This is the thirty-first European Athletics Championships being held. While some of the results weren’t a surprise, some of the races were total surprises. Hosted by Hannah England and Tim Hutchings, the broadcast was broadcast worldwide. European Championship in Portugal
Team GB won six medals at the European Championships held in Portugal. Innes Fitzgerald won the U20 for the third consecutive year in 14:35. He then commented: “I wanted to work it up as the laps went by because I knew the slightly hilly track would make it a bit challenging and especially being quite soft underfoot. But the onset was faster than I thought it would be. It’s awesome and that’s what I love about cross country, there’s also that team element, so you always have girls behind you supporting you, and that brings me back every year.” Beth Lewis, 16, is 12th, Isabelle Holt 20thth and Eliza Nicholson 37thit was enough to confirm U20 gold for Team GB as well.
It was no surprise that Nadia Battocletti won the senior race in 24:52. A great run by Megan Keith saw her finish just 15 seconds back. It was an eventful race “The race was a very big mental test for me because our (British team) strategy was to be aggressive but patient.
