Esme Davies stars in Brampton to Carlisle 10

Our latest UK wide trail ride starts from the popular Brampton to Carlisle 10 miles in Cumbria.

BRAMPTON TO CARLISLE 10, Cumbria, Nov 16

The race, billed as Britain’s oldest ten miler, can produce some phenomenal times, especially if blessed with a following wind, but conditions were relatively calm today and Ed Bovington took the lead in 48:34.

It was tough for the minor placings as four more runners took the lead in 49 minutes led by Mark Scott’s 48:47 who narrowly edged out John Buttrick as Carl Avery and Mark Brown followed.

In the women’s race, things were simpler, with Esme Davies taking a comfortable victory over Steph Pennycook, 54:26 – 54:57.

Third place went to Border’s top W40 Rachel Brown in 57:32, over a minute clear of fellow W40 Kate Maltby.

However, none of the times will appear in the ten-mile rankings, although The Power of Ten will record details of the runners’ individual profiles.
