I wrote this piece in 2009 for the 2009 world champions before the Berlin Olympic Stadium. It was an amazing meeting, and one of my favorite world championships, where I interviewed the Coat Seeds, Jennie Springs. One of my favorite memories was the Berlin Sports Museum, where I watched 1,300 glass plate photos from the 1936 Olympics.
Today is the anniversary since 1935, where Jesse Owens set six records in Ohio.

This week, seventy-five years ago, a four Owen Gold Medals, 100 meters, a long jump and 4 x 100 meters won a four Olympic gold medals.
Jesse Owens is an American phenomenon. Dedicated to athlete, Ouns was thrown in the middle of a preaching war between democracy and fascism, and in a world was still tired of the first big war. The ironic thing is that Yesse Owens did not treat well in the United States in the 1930s, he was the focus of racism as the most black descendants of his generation. It doesn’t make it better to say that it was a part of Zeitgeist, but it was right. Jess Owens was black in the United States. He was proud of being American, but he had to feel frustrated, disrespectfully, he knew he deserved.

I noticed how young Mr. Owens was in this movie. He set four worlds in Ohio, who was spring. He was a huge athlete. But in the global stage of doing so, it was amazing at his first Olympic Games and should add one of the greatest athletes of all time to his body.
The 1936 Olympic Games were a battle between fascism and democracy. The 1930s were a time of great beauty and excellent ugliness. The Spanish Civil War, which was considered to be the world of World War II, was almost over. Until 1936, Hitler was fully fluent in Germany, and the old Europe’s tired countries were convinced that their applications with Austria, Charlie Chaplin mustache and coming in uniform. World Depression has found it difficult to feed their families for most people, much less worried about the rest of the world. The United States, which encourages the United States to stay out of European problems, had supported almost half of Americans in 1936 to stay out of European problems.
Depending on the historian, you will hear very different stories. You will hear that IOCs completely stopped the leadership of the Nazi propaganda machine, the leadership of the Jews Jose Emergo Gobbellers, the Gayer of Berlin. It is more truth that fiction that the then the head of the ioc, Hilari de Bilt-Latur told Hills or to appear in all medal ceremonies in general. BAILET-LATOUR also threatened to change the website of the Olympic Games by Gebebel’s claim to keep the Jews out of public places. He will also hear how Jewish Sprinters, Marty Glickman and Sam Stoller, the famous Americans, who ran in a row during 4 x 100 meters in a row and replaced Jesse Owens and Ralph.

If people are now complaining about the Federations and the Bureau of Sports, the 1930s were one of the so-called Amurity Heid Days. At one time, the head of the US Olympic Committee, the Evikyan brother, was not a poster of diversity. Wet clinging to Jessy Ous and will take his amateur standing right after the Olympic Games. His credit, Jesse Owens kept his head, found different ways to support his family and most Americans, black or white, did it. It is the secret of this country, in good times, in bad times, Americans find a way to work. Jess Owens was a purely American phenomenon.
For me, a part of Jesse Ouens, which shows this law, was his company with Luzo, the Germans who jumped for a long jump. It does not apply to overcoming racism, it came to the real beauty of athleticism, our sport. It is not about the color that it did not apply to the nationality, it was not about sports and noble sports. This lose his life on the East front during World War II, which increased the legend.
It is appropriate for Jess’s Owens and Luz families to meet in IAAF world championships for a long time. I applaud the IAAAF, USATF and the Berlin Organization Committee on that part of that story. The image is important in sports history, and this is one for which we can all be proud of.
I hope that if Mr. Owen was alive today, he would be happy with the changes in our sports, amateurism, and he would be satisfied that a good athlete could have a good living. But Mr. Owens can also despair about the part of our sports, which has become part of our sport. Drugs, criminal records, athletes that always put as such.
I have never met Jesse Owens. I read only about him, spoke to the interview with journalists and saw him again. I can’t appreciate what Mr. Owens was like to live when he did, acting model Americans, especially African Americans. The fanner had troubled the 1968 Olympic Games and Tom Smith and John Carlos’ tribunes should not be surprised. At the moment, Mr. Owens was doing some work for USOC.
He was given as a greater man in the status quo, a larger man, sports world, which besides his sews. Smith and Carlos have not demanded respect, they respect their sport, their race on the global stage. It was not something that Mr. Owens could fall from his life experience.
Maybe it’s an ironic that Mr. Owens could not see that both Mr. Charlos gave them to performances at many different times that changed their sports emotions. In the 1930s, Mr. Smith and Mr. Carlos paid a huge price for their shocking performances.
I once interviewed the mother of Carl Lewis, Evelyn, NSSF closed champions, now the closing of Nike in Boston, perhaps in 1995 or 1996. Everli Lewis was joy. I asked him that in the 1950s about competing black women, followed by memories in the field were returning to the cars.
He told me that I could not stay in the same hotel as white teams, and as it was very unusual to compete for black and white women’s athletes. What fascinating for me was that Mrs. Luis spoke about the facts of time, but also about the great times with her teammates, which fleeing African-American fans during the bombing. He was in fact quite important. He wanted to make sure that young American children, white and blacks knew how much change was caused in the country, and how much it is still needed.
This will be my first trip to the famous stadium in Berlin. I hope we will appreciate the beauty and change in our sports over the past seventy three years. I honor I can write about a sport I love and athletes that I respect. I hope that one night I will walk in the field and go out for a long jump area and will discuss for a moment what happened in August, seventy-six years ago.
