Paul Zinger believes he feels forced to do this. Bernhard Langer would like to compete against him after he is right.
But will Tiger Woods choose, who turns 50 December, choose to remove it in the PGA Tour champions after being right?
Ernie Els had an easy-hearted message for the 15-year-old big champion regarding the old circuit membership.
“They beat us again … if you can,” Els told when asked about Woods joining the Champions tour at the start of the Els Center of Excellence in Jupiter, Fla.
“I’ve said, please come on play. And I think it can be useful just for it,” Els said, through Palm Beach’s post. “He will recover in golf form. You can ride a wheelchair without any shame and if there was a guy who should be able to run a wheelchair, he is. … and he can take his ass to the shape.”
Woods did not make a PGA Tour start in 2025 after undergoing surgery to repair a torn Achilles in March. The 49-year-old Woods hit him during the TGL season but did not make a PGA Tour start after he lost the cut in the 2024 open championship.
Back in January, Azinger said he believed Woods would take him to the old circuit to pay what PGA Tour has given.
“I think Tiger can even feel an obligation to play tours,” Azinger said. “The tournament has given Tiger long ago with that player influence program.
Langer has 47 career wins on the Champions Tournament. The double sample of masters does not believe there is any doubt that Woods will choose to compete in the old circuit at one point.
“It would be an emotion to see Tiger come out and play the Champions tournament,” Langer said in January, “and I’m convinced he will play some. It depends on how much.”
Langer and his son Jason played with Tiger and Charlie Woods at the PNC championship last December, and collapsed by beating them in a play off to win the event. Langer had a taking from playing the parent-child exhibition with Tiger. He is not done by competing.
“Tiger still loves the game. He is still very competitive, and he enjoys seeing his son gets better in the game, and Charlie loves him, so I think he will stay with him,” Langer said.
While it is unclear when, and if, Woods will play in the old circuit, a legendary golf player believes that if he does, the story will be the same as when he was playing Els and Co. in PGA Tour.
“I think Tiger will play the old tour,” Jack Nicklaus said Golf Channel “Golf Central” in 2024. “He will be able to get into a wheelchair, and he will kill absolutely everyone.”
