Manchester United have started the 2024/25 season the same way they did under David Moyes during his ill-fated 2013/14 tenure.
Sunday’s bitterly disappointing 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur it means United have just seven points from their opening six Premier League games, with Erik ten Hag’s side winning two, drawing one and losing three of their games so far this year.
Like Moyes, Ten Hag has led the team to 12th in the Premier League table after six games, although they could drop to 13th if Bournemouth beat Southampton on Monday evening.
Both Moyes’ and Ten Hag’s sides conceded eight goals in their first six outings, although the 2024/25 side have a lower goal difference having scored just five times, compared to the eight goals scored by the team led by Moyes 11 years ago.
Conceding goals has been a real problem for Ten Hag, which he saw as his own united The team shipped three goals for the 23rd time under his control.
The pressure on Ten Hag’s shoulders is enormous, but the the boss insists he is not afraid of being fired from United, who he believes is staying with him as part of a long-term project.
