Eddie Hearn says the Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis vs. Eimantas Stanionis fight on April 12 is #1 and #2 in the Welterweight section to prove who is the best champion. IBF 147-LB champion Ennis (33-0, 29 and WBA belt holder Stanionis (15-0, 9 COs) main page at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The event will be shown directly on Dazn.

Hearn gave himself a pat on the shoulder because he gave Ennis, 27, the first of three uniform fights he needed to become an undisputed champion in welter weight.
Eddie recently failed to negotiate a fight for ‘Boots’ last November with WBO champion Brian Norman JR, which led Ennis to defend against his IBF compulsory Karen Chukhadzhian in a her match that fans no interest had to see.
Ennis looked awful in that fight and spent many rounds out of Karen and even beaten through the fist. To say that Chukhadzhian made ‘boots’ terrible is to put it lightly. Jaron won the fight with a unanimous decision of 12 rounds, but his stock in the boxing world dropped because he looked terrible.
Ennis recently made things worse by rejecting a career-high payday to fight WBC interim junior middleweight champion Vergil ortiz jr. On Turki Al-Sheikh’s massive February 22nd card in Riyadh. Fans saw it as a flat-out, old -fashioned cowardice on Ennis’s side. So, for Jaron to fight against Stanionis on April 12 in a unification, it did nothing to revive his lost popularity.
The fight that American boxing fans wanted to see was Boots Ennis for Vergil Ortiz Jr., not a match against Stanionis, which is not well known or well known by Americans. The other two world champions at 147, Brian Norman and Mario Barrios are also not respected by fans.
The wrong opponent
Boots won’t get much credit to beat one of those guys, and it will be an empty achievement If he finally reached his goal of becoming unchanged at 147. No one will care, because fans value Ennis to move up against Vergil, Bakhram Muratazaliev, Israil Madrimov and Serhii Bohachuk on 154.
“That’s enough. Brian Norman, Barrios, two good fighters. Stanionis is the one. Stanionis is the hardest battle for boots, and you will see the best against the best. Claim the crown up, and that’s what it’s all about, ”Eddie Hearn said Matchroom BoxingAnd say who he feels are the best of the three 147-pounders that Jaron Ennis has to beat.
“It is one of the most pleasant and rewarding announcements we have made, because boots had a dream (which unites the 147-LB section) that we were responsible for administering, and it was for him to the division unite to become the outstanding best 147. -Pounder in the world, ”Hearn continued.
“I have to give respect to Stanionis, because no one wanted to fight against Boots, and maybe the last show (Karen Chukhadzhian-Rematch) just thought and it was a brilliant fight. It is the #1 and #2 welterweight in the world that fight against the IBF, WBA and the Ring Magazine belt to tell us unequivocally who is the best 147-pound in the world.
Evaded Ortiz?
This is not a rewarding announcement because it did nothing to make fans forget that boots a risky fight against Vergil Ortiz Jr. on February 22 did not reject. Fans think Entiz evaded Ortiz, afraid to lose against him and see that his popularity was further away.
Boots have already looked bad in most of his recent battles against Karen Chukhadzhian x 2, David Avsanesyan and Roiman Villa. The last time Jaron looked impressive was three years ago when he knocked out the 34-year-old Custio Clayton in the second round on May 14, 2022.
‘Boots’ had a lot of criticism because he stood by his dream, and when the (Vergil) Ortiz fight came when the theofimo fight came, he told me,’ Eddie, I want to unite the division. I want to win all the belts. Please, let it happen, ‘and we made it happen. We delivered, and we are at the Boardwalk Hall, an arena full of history, ”Hearn said.
“It’s going to be a big show, and for all the people who doubted him. All the people who shot at him (Ennis), that is the right fight. April 12 at Atlantic City, ‘Boots’ against Stanionis for Welterweight dominance and for the Ring Magazine belt. The last two owners of the ring magazine belt were Terence Crawford and Floyd Mayweather, which go back decades
“Besides that, (Sugar Ray) Leonard, Hagler, Sugar Ray Robinson. This is the quality we will see in this battle, and it is the statement that will make “boots” to prove that he is a pound-for-pound, “Hearn said.
