Jaron “Boots” Ennis (34-0, 30 costs) tonight makes his super welterweight debut against Uussma “Monto” Lima (14-1, 10 food) in the newly nominated Xfinity Mobile Arena. Boots weighed almost a pound under 153.4 pounds, while Lima weighed an even 153.
The extra weight will benefit Ennis a lot. He will be stronger, and he will make a statement by trying to prove that he is the one to beat in this section. Eddie Hearn spoke of a potential match against Vergil Ortiz in 2026, if both are successful in their upcoming matches.
Ortiz held a match against the very game Erickson Lubin next month, on November 8, in Dallas, Texas. Hearn said during the weigh-in of yesterday that boots can essentially all the top level competition at 154 can beat Sebastian Fundora, Bakhram Murtazaliev, Xander Zayas and Vergil Ortiz. However, to challenge them, he must first defeat Lima and do so convincingly.
Lima boldly fought against Aaron McKenna and took the fight at short notice, but suffered his first loss in that match. Uisma is a pressure fighter with a good volume, but he tends to slow down in the middle to late rounds. He will certainly be tested against Ennis, and if his conditioning is not on the point, he will not survive the match.
Boots is a brilliant body sponsor, and the attack of the body against Uisma will be beneficial and allow him to cause the most damage to a fighter with a poor endurance. McKenna also exposed Lima’s dexterity. He does not do well against mobile boxers. A weakness that Jaron can strategically expose.
Ennis said he is not here to play games and wants to work quickly from Lima. He must be careful not to underestimate the monstro because he has a decent power. Although he may not have the experiential boots, he is fighting in his 16 professional attack. He does have the ability to surprise him with a potentially timely counter. Ennis had different sparring partners to prepare for this match, which includes Canelo Alvarez and Jack Catterall. He is very well prepared and conditioned for the match. The extra weight will give him more power, but he also stands at 154 stronger opponents.
Karen Chukhadzhian was able to land very clean bumps against Ennis in the second game. If he gives Lima the same opportunity, he will expose himself to unnecessary damage to a decent puncher. This is the biggest threat to boots in the match: underestimating his
opponent and allow him to land easy bumps. Although he defeated both Chukhadzhian and Eimantas Stanionis, they could both end up more than 30 percent of their total blows. Definitely, Jaron was slow, and he couldn’t afford to be lax ahead, especially if he intended to challenge the top-level competition in the future. If boots perform by expectations, he must work quickly from Lima and end it with a knockout.
