England conclude their September schedule on Tuesday when they welcome Finland to Wembley for another Nations League game.
The Three Lions are set to make light work of their 2024/25 Nations League group after being relegated to the second tier last time out. England’s campaign, as well as Gareth Southgate’s afterlife, began with a comfortable 2-0 win over the Republic of Ireland in Dublin.
Former Ireland stars Declan Rice and Jack Grealish found the back of the net with some humor in England’s win on Saturday.
Caretaker manager Lee Carsley will aim for another quiet triumph on Tuesday after the Three Lions produced a controlled and dynamic visualization the weekend
Carsley’s men face a Finland side currently ranked 63rd in the world. Without star power, the Finns were absent from Euro 2024 and began their Nations League campaign with a 3-0 loss to Greece on Saturday. This is their first meeting with England since 2001, and they have never beaten the Three Lions in nine attempts.

Carsley saw several stars retire of his squad ahead of Ireland’s win, with the former Under-21 boss handing out call-ups to players he knows. Morgan Gibbs-White and Angel Gomes made their Three Lions debuts from the bench last time out, and the pair are pushing for starts under the arc on Tuesday.
Noni Madueke and Tino Livramento are also in the hunt for minutes, although we shouldn’t expect wholesale changes to Carsley’s starting XI against Finland with no injuries reported following Saturday’s win.
John Stones could make the team, as could Eberechi Eze. Dublin goalscorer Marc Guehi and Jack Grealish may be the two to leave.
Expected England v Finland line-up (4-2-3-1): Pickford; Alexander-Arnold, Stones, Maguire, Colwill; Mainoo, rice; Saka, Eze, Gordon; Kane.
Although the hosts are injury free, Finland suffered a couple of injury setbacks at the weekend. Midfielder Kaan Kairinen missed the 3-0 defeat at the hands of Greece after picking up an injury in the warm-up, while Rasmus Schuller went off in the first half with a knock.
Neither player is expected to feature at Wembley.
Teemu Pukki is perhaps the best-known figure in the Finnish national team to have plyed his trade in the Premier League with Norwich, but his place in the starting eleven is not guaranteed. Instead, Markku Kanerva could opt for Venezia’s Joel Pohjanpalo up top.
Finland predicted line-up against England (4-2-3-1): Hradecky; Stahl, Hoskonen, Ivanov, Uronen; Peltola, Nissila; Lod, Kamara, Antman; background fire
England were impressive against an overmatched Ireland last time out and their clear superiority should show again on Tuesday.
Finland are at the top of Kanerva’s head for a long time, and should pose little threat to an England side with an excellent record at Wembley. The Three Lions rarely struggle in games of this nature, and Saturday’s performance would suggest that Tuesday’s crowd will be in for a treat.
After being manhandled by the Greeks at the weekend, Kanerva’s Finland could be in for another long afternoon.
