England The National Cricket Team players are ready to take on the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). According to reports in the Telegraph, it is learned that 50 players of the team are considering boycotting next year’s Hundred in protest against the management’s refusal to allow players to play in franchise tournaments.
Since the last few months, the England and Wales Cricket Board has been very strict and conveyed to the players the importance of playing for the nation. They took a strong step last week when they changed their policy on ‘no-objection certificates’ (NoC) for players to play in overseas leagues.
The ECB will not issue NoCs to players for leagues that will clash with the English summer
The ECB has stated that NoCs will not be issued to players for leagues that will clash with the English summer unless the players have a white-ball-only contract with their home region. This means that no player will be a part of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Not only that, but the tournament that will clash with English football players will not be allowed schedule Vitality Blast and Hundred. This means that players will find it difficult to play in Major League Cricket, Canada’s Global T20 League and the Lankan Premier League as well as the Caribbean Premier League.
However, this did not go down well with the players as they expressed their disappointment. According to information, it was learned that about 50 players are in the team series meetings with the Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA) this week. Based on these meetings, the PCA will receive calls to find out if they have an official response to the CBA’s policy.
The England players have decided not to be part of the talks regarding their retention by their team unless the NoC situation is resolved
The news also added that some English players have discussed playing for Hundred. It is learned that some cricketers have decided not to be part of the talks regarding their retention. teamsand then refuse to enter the project unless the NoC situation is resolved more to their liking.
Reports claimed that a significant number of players represented England, between 40 and 50 players. This could be a major headache for the ECB, especially with stakes in eight hundred teams being sold to investors.
Some players have decided to quit red ball cricket
A source close to the events claimed, “In principle, this is a really strong position that shows the strength of the feeling. The question is that money talks and there can be a domino effect as some sort out.
Not only that, reports claimed that some big county players have decided to quit the red ball movement and renegotiate their county contracts if their lucrative contracts in Pakistan are confirmed. It remains to be seen whether the ECB will similarly change its attitude towards NoCs.
