Endrick avoided a sending-off in Real Madrid’s win over Deportivo Alavés on Tuesday, despite protests from rival coach Luis GarcÃa Plaza.
Madrid extended his winning streak to five games later winning 3-2 at Alavésthanks to goals from Lucas Vázquez, Kylian Mbappe and Rodrygo.
However, one of the main talking points of the night was less positive, with controversy over whether a teenage wonder Endrick he should have received a red card.
The 18-year-old received a yellow card after kneeing defender Santiago Mourinho, arguing that the Alavesista pushed him first.
It went into the book, but opposition manager Garcia Plaza was in disbelief as to how the punishment wasn’t more severe.
“It’s a red card,” the manager told reporters after the game.
“We should have played the last 10 minutes against 10 men. It’s a clear red, nobody can say no. If the referee didn’t see it, that’s what VAR is for. Maybe they got more yellow cards than they should have to do. to have, but for Endrick, it’s a red.”
Alavés scored two goals in the last five minutes of the game to bring the score back to 3-2 and therefore the visitors may have made a better comeback against ten men.
Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti refused to comment on the incident after the game, saying: “I can’t give my opinion, I didn’t see it and I haven’t seen any replays.”
Endrick has featured in seven games for Madrid so far this season, registering a goal and an assist in La Liga, as well as a goal in the Champions League. The Spanish giants are back in action on Sunday when they travel to rivals Atletico Madrid.
