The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) overturned WBO Super Featherweight Champion Emanuel Navarrete’s eighth round technical decision on Charly Suarez from May 10 and changed it to a no-cash today, June 2, 2025.

The decision by the CSAC does not give Suarez the victory, which some believe he deserves. All it does is leave the fight as if it never happened. Navarrete’s promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, plans to set up a re -broadcast. However, Suarez (18-0, 10 COs) will enter the Challenger rather than the champion. That means less money.
In the Navarrete-Suarez battle on May 10 at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California, Navarrete (39-2-1, 32 COs) in the sixth round sustained a deep cut over his left eye, ruling referee Edward Collantes by a clash of heads. Replays showed that a Suarez left hook caused it.
The fight was later stopped for a second in the eighth round on the advice of the ring. Dr. Robert Ruelaz, because Navarrete had trouble looking out of his left eye because of the blood of his cut. Navarrete, 30, received an eighth round technical decision through the scores 77-76, 78-75 and 77-76.
Fans call robbery
Many boxing fans felt that Suarez had done enough to win the fight, and they felt it was a robbery. Not only did the referee and repetition official, Jack Reiss, fail to make the right verdict on the cause of the cut, but the scoring by the three judges did not make sense.
The outcome of the decision of today’s decision by the CSAC means that Suarez’s record is now 18-0 again. Navarrete is still the WBO Super Featherweight Champion. He did not get an eighth round TKO loss, which some fans believe he should have.
Navarrete still champion
Although the victory of Navarrete has been taken away, he is still the champion and gets a do. Suarez gets a second chance. There are reports that the re -broadcast in Suarez’s homeland, the Philippines, can be staged.
Navarrete must cut off because he looked slack, slow and tired during the fight. He was at his best in the first three rounds, but threw out in fourth place. He chased the more fit and athletic suarez and excelled.
