Leonard Ellerbe confirmed on X today that the fight between Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach is still on for March 1st at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Tank Davis (30-0, 28 KOs) sparked drama this week when he posted this message on Instagram on December 23rd: “The fight is f*** cancelled.” Davis later deleted the message. On the same day, Roach (25-1-1, 10 KOs) posted a video of himself preparing for the fight.
Manufactured drama?
Some fans believe that Tank is trying to create fake drama to generate interest in his mismatch against Roach, as it is seen as another of his many cherry picks during his 11-year professional career.
The fight has already been moved from December 14th to March 1st once, and it is seen as a product that no one wants. It wouldn’t be a shock if Tank continues the cancellation posts to get fans excited about this match.

It’s unclear if Ellerbe, former CEO of Mayweather Promotions, is still working with Tank Davis or if he’s on parole.
Gervonta or his team failed to consider what the fan reaction would be when they chose the light-hitting super featherweight Roach as his opponent.
