Dominican boxer Edwin de Los Santos understood the public’s attention in September 2022 when he accepted a last minute match against the then -rising unbeaten lightweight contender Jose “Rayo” Valenzuela. In the opening round of the competition, De Los Santos decided to strike the feeling.
De Los Santos immediately pushed forward and landed a number of hard power stalks. He continued the attack in the second round, but he was beaten when Valenzuela caught him with a counter link hook.
De Los Santos got up and seconds later he scored his own beat when he landed a wave of hard shots. De Los Santos leveled the score with KnockDowns, but he lost a point because he beat Valenzuela while he was down.
Early in the third round, De Los Santos Valenzuela was getting away for a second time when he landed a large left hook. Valenzuela could get up, but later in third place De Los Santos forced the referee to stop the competition when he landed a series of penalty shots.
After participating in an exciting fire fight in 2022, De Los Santos participated in the most non-opportunities of 2023 when he faced Shakur Stevenson. In a match for the vacant WBC lightweight title, Stevenson took little risk because he was reluctant to get involved, and managed to dance his way to victory.
Now the 25-year-old Southpaw Edwin de Los Santos (16-2, 14 COs) is about to get a second shot on a world title. The challenger Edwin de Los Santos, who goes in his fight against WBO champion Keyshawn Davis, feels confident and motivated.
From a historical point of view, in June 1968, Carlos Cruz Carlos Ortiz defeated a split decision and became the first Dominican lightweight world champion. If Edwin de Los Santos Davis can defeat on June 7, he will become the second Dominican boxer to win a world title on lightweight.
During his appearance on the Broadway Joel Podcast, De Los Santos admitted to feeling very confident, and the self -insurance stems from his opinion of his opponent.
“Look, I saw some videos, and they touched him, little bumps, and he didn’t like it. I mean the reaction I saw is like strange, like soft, ‘De Los Santos said.
Edwin de Los Santos, is a competent boxer puncher who has power in both hands. He believes if he can land his shots, power will overwhelm Davis.
Challenger de Los Santos believes that Keyshawn Davis’ only path to victory is to run as Shakur did. During his interview, De Los Santos gave a strict warning about Davis running and deciding to stop when he says, “If he stops, he dies there.”
