Eddie Hearn says Devin Haney should now schedule a makeover fight to prepare for a potential mega-clash against Ryan Garcia in mid-2025.

Bill Haney posted video clips of Devin’s training, and it looks like he may have a fight he’s preparing for. However, the only guy Bill indicates he wants Devin is Ryan.
Bill hounded him relentlessly on X and pressured him to join VADA for drug testing. Of course, Ryan sees no point in signing up for tryouts when he’s still suspended, unsigned for a fight against Haney, and still being sued. This is mind boggling on Bill’s part. He puts the cart before the horse.
Hearn says Haney needs guidance
Matchroom promoter Hearn feels that Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) needs guidance with his career to give him some “firepower” backing to get things done. He did not say what he would do if Haney signed with his company, but he is likely to compare himself against one of his British fighters, such as Jack Catterall, if he comes through his fight this Saturday night against Regis Prograis or IBF light welterweight champion. Liam Paro.
Hearn did not say whether he would be up for that job. It’s going to be tough for Haney, 25, to bounce back from his loss to Ryan, as his confidence is likely at an all-time low, and whoever faces him will load up on head shots to take advantage of his weak chin.
“Devin needs guidance. Sometimes you need someone who knows the industry inside and out like the back of their hand. Bill (Haney) did a great job with Devin, but you need firepower,” Eddie Hearn said Fight Hub TV about Devin Haney needing help with his career.
If Bill wants to be the one to fight for Devin, it could end badly for him. Anyone Bill picks would be risky for Haney with his glass chin. It is highly possible that he could no longer take a punch and would fall apart if he matched up against even the weakest puncher at 140 or 147.
Regis Prograis will jump at the chance to take a rematch with Haney if he gets past Catterall on Saturday night as he is going to be like a raging bull going for the knockout. The shots Prograis hit Haney with in their fight last December may torpedo him now after what Ryan did.
“I think Devin needs to get himself together and get a fight scheduled,” Hearn said. “Everybody is talking about the potential Ryan Garcia fight. Potentially? What is it, May, June, July? In my opinion, he needs one more fight before going into another fight.
“In my opinion, he needs one more fight before going into a big fight. So, if I’m Devin Haney now, I schedule my fight, whether it’s in Vegas. He is still a big name. I know he had the loss or no loss to Ryan Garcia, but he’s still a big name in the sport.
“For me, I would get that date locked in and come back with a bang for a big show, and then come back with a massive fight next summer, maybe against Ryan Garcia or anybody else,” Hearn said of Haney.
No matter who Haney is pitted against in a tune-up, he will be at risk of being knocked out as his punch resistance seemed to be 100% gone by the end of his fight last April against Ryan. Haney was stunned by everything Ryan hit him in the last three rounds, and the only reason he wasn’t knocked out was because Kingry went easy on him. He begged Bill to stop the fight because Haney was helpless.
