Hearn pointed to the support he gave Benn during their time together, including financial help, and made it clear he expects some contact after the split. His comments highlighted the disconnect between that expectation and what followed, with no communication following Benn’s move despite their long working relationship.
“He wouldn’t even call me after representing him for nine years and loaning him about a million pounds,” Hearn told iFL TV of Conor following the event.
The comment came when Hearn was asked if Benn could attend the show or speak to him in person, an idea he quickly dismissed.
“He wouldn’t even call me. Do you really think he’s going to show up here and look me in the eye? No chance,” Hearn said.
Benn was not present at the event, and no contact between the two has been suggested.
Hearn didn’t spend time on the business side of Benn’s move. He did not enter into contracts, negotiations or future options. His focus remained on communication, or the lack of it, after a long run of working together.
The two worked together through Benn’s development from prospect to a main attraction in the UK market, headlining cards and building his profile into one of Matchroom’s more visible names. Hearn’s involvement spanned those stages, and he pointed to that history as he described the current distance.
He also clarified that the length of that working relationship is part of why the silence stands out to him. Hearn described a situation where, in his opinion, a simple call would be expected after such a long commitment.
There was no indication from his comments that the situation was close to recovery. He left the door open in general terms, but did not suggest any recent contact or attempts to reconnect.
Hearn returned to the same point when describing the situation, keeping his focus on what he says never happened after the split, and why it still defines how he views it.
