Eddie Hearn looks at “Big Fight” for Jack Catterall’s Welterweight World Title Challenge after Harlem Eubank Jr. Victory

Promoter Eddie Hearn says he’s going to be looking for a ‘Big fight‘For Jack Catterall to challenge to a world title at Welterweight next as soon as his cutting of his seventh round technical decision on Harlem Eubank Jr. Healed Saturday night in Manchester, England.

Catterall (31-2, 13 COs) did the minimum in each round before having a cut over his right eye from a clash of heads in round six against eubank jr. (21-1, 9 COs) in the Manchester Arena. The doctor on the side examined the cut and would allow the fight to continue. However, a second doctor chose to stop the fight.

Catterall’s Next: Welterweight Gold

Hearn’s welterweight strategy

Catterall has only fought once on Welterweight against Eubank JR, and he did nothing to earn a world title against any of the champions in the division.

“Obviously, with boots moving up and likely to evacuate, Paddy Donovan comes to Lewis Crocker for that (IBF) World Championships. The winner of the fight will be looking for big battles. Big battles domestic and major fights, Ireland against England, and internationally,” Hearn said.

It’s hard to believe that the Donovan vs. Crocker Rematch -winner will be the new IBF welterweight champion. None of these fighters beat any significant contenders during their careers. Hearn is going to target the winner of the battle for Catterall because he is not good enough for WBO champion Brian Norman Jr. To beat or go in the direction of the WBA belt held by Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero.

‘And you have (Bakhram) Giyasov, who was supposed to fight boots for the (WBA) Super Championship. Jack will be out for a while for the bad cut, but after that it will be our job to try a big fight, ‘says Hearn.

Hearn will keep Catterall far from the unbeaten #1 rankings on the WBA contender Bakhram Giyasov, because he would be bad news for Jack. He has too much talent, and he hits him too hard. Hearn will keep Catterall on the road to fight the Crocker-Donovan winner for the IBF belt. This is at least a winable one for Jack.
