Ryan Garcia grilled promoter Eddie Hearn, calling him a “fake” for “turning his back” on Devin Haney after his April 20 loss to him. Garcia feels Matchroom promoter Hearn is a “fraud” for dropping Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) after he was beaten. He thought it was low.
Ryan doesn’t like how Hearn said he was completely broken up, and looked in the ring for the Haney fight. He doesn’t understand how he would be separated from looking like he was “crashed out” if he was able to dominate Haney the way he did at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
“Eddie Hearn was like, ‘Ryan Garcia looked crazy in the ring before the fight.’ You can watch the fight, you dumbass,” Ryan Garcia went on to say social mediatalks about his fight against Devin Haney on April 20th. “I was literally normal.”
To be fair, Ryan did look a little shameless in the lead up to the fight with Haney, but in the ring during the fight. He was 100% dialed in during the actual contest, and we saw that clearly with the way he rocked Haney with a left hook to the jaw in the first round. Haney never recovered from the lightning left from Ryan.
“If I was so spaced out in the ring, how could I land a perfect counter left hook in front of his jaw? You’re stupid, Eddie Hearn. You stupid idiot. “Ah, Ryan was cracked in the ring.” I’m tired of Eddie Hearn. This guy is a fake,” Garcis said.
Ryan shouldn’t take Hearn seriously because maybe he was just slapping his gums to have something to talk about because his former fighter, Haney, really worked. All the hard work Hearn had put into him went out the window.
After that loss, you could understand why Hearn would want to leave the sinking Haney ship before it went down. He is useless now. Haney’s career has reached the end, and it won’t be dragged back to the surface with the help of Hearn.
He’s not going to want to sign Haney and then do an expensive, time-consuming rebuild work on him that can take two years and involve four or five confidence builders. Haney is not a big enough attraction.
“You have to question what Eddie Hearn said. He said: ‘I looked at Ryan, and he was really out of shape.’ I had a six-pack, and I was ready to go. I came in hard. I drank a lot of fluids and ate a lot. I usually don’t.
“I don’t know how he puts on so much weight. He went from 140 to 158. I was 156. Eddie Hearn said, ‘He turned and looked everywhere.’ No, I wasn’t. Watch the fight. I wasn’t cracked. How can I fight so cracked?” Garcia said.
Many fans wonder how Haney puts on so much weight after rehydrating from his fights, but the weight manipulation that takes place in the sport has to have rules in place to prevent this sort of thing. There should be secondary weight checks on the night of the fight to ensure that fighters do not rehydrate more than 10 lbs because it is dangerous to have someone rehydrate 20+ lbs and use their size to win. This is not only unfair, but it can be life-threatening for their opponents.
“If you’re really high on drugs, how can you fight in front of millions of people and fight for 12 rounds? These people are stupid. I wish I could see Eddie Hearn and say, ‘Are you stupid? Your fighter didn’t fight well, and he wasn’t even your fighter then. Then when he was beaten, you turned your back on him. You are a fake fake. F*** you, Eddie Hearn,” said Garcia.
All the acting Ryan did to make Haney think he was crazy could have fooled Hearn too, and he thought he was off his gourd. Many people thought Garcia was either showing signs of early schizophrenia or on drugs.
“Forget you, Eddie Hearn, for trying to create this narrative that I was busted before the fight. You’re just an idiot. This is a curse on him because you tried to lie to me so many times. Now look at your promotion,” Ryan said.
Again, we don’t know what Hearn’s purpose was in talking, as he may have been trying to generate interest in the fight by spinning some big stories.
