Promoter Eddie Hearn is confident that he can negotiate a unification fight between WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis and WBC champion Shakur Stevenson.
Hearn says that as long as “Everyone is wise,“He believes he can compile the fight. He feels that Tank Davis (30-0, 28 COs) has no options for him to make the ‘big money’.
The promoter of the matchbox Hearn may have forgotten that Ryan Garcia is an option for Tank Davis to take a rematch. The battle would bring in much more money than Shakur for the Baltimore native. Shakur, 27, is not popular with casual box fans or a PPV attraction. He has a fan base, but nowhere near that of Ryan. Even Devin Haney is more popular than Shakur.
The money battle

You hate to say that, but Hearn made a mistake in signing Shakur. He signed Shakur in 2024 to a two-fold agreement. His first battle of the agreement was supposed to be against Joe Cordina on October 12 last year. Shakur sustained a hand injury training for that fight and had to pull out.
This Saturday is Stevenson’s first fight with Matchroom. He was supposed to fight against Floyd Schofield, but he pulled out with a disease. It would not be a big fight, but it was still tolerable.
Now, however, Shakur will fight against a replacement opponent. These are the two options: Josh Padley and Moussa Gholam. Hearn is not going to get his money worth in Shakur’s first fight with Matchroom, and he may have the same problem if he can’t deliver Tank Davis.
