Dustin Johnson has not had the year he feels his deserved game. But that’s golf. This is the search.
The big champion has not yet won in Liv this season and has lost cutting in all three diplomas so far this season. Next week’s open championship next week at Royal Portrush will be the end of his main exceptions for his 2020 masters victory.
40-year-old Johnson has not had a Top-10 in a major since the year 2023 US Open in the Los Angeles Country Club and has lost cutting in six of its last major beginnings. He believes there are six good years of golf, but the results have not been there. The shadows seem to be much longer than you believe.
But in golf, things can feel much closer than they appear. Despite the sometimes inflated results on his card, Johnson has claimed he is CLOSER He can feel it. And sometimes all it takes is a pace, a round or a tour of everything to click.
After a long search, things can finally start joining for Johnson this week at Liv andalucia.
At least, it looked that Saturday.
After a first round scratched that he saw him shooting 4 in brutal conditions, Johnson made seven birds in the second round to shoot a 64 cute and safe in second place on 3 under, just four shots after the two-day Talor Gooch leader.
“It definitely becomes frustrating when you feel like you are playing really good golf,” Johnson said Saturday in Valderrama. “You just don’t get the results you think you should get in the way you are playing and the way you are swinging in it. It was a little frustrating, but I’ve worked on it. I feel like the game, the swing is really good. I am seeing a lot – hitting a lot of shots really. My self opportunity to raise up and down or save pars.”

Johnson still looks alike. He is still dried with the same rogue that was shaking through PGA Tour for 16 seasons. He still easily explodes the ball across the sky. In addition to gray on his chin and 4aces logo in his hat, he still looks like Dustin Johnson.
But the results have not been Dustin Johnson-Esque for some time.
At first, it looked like a diving, the same kind that injured almost everyone in Pro Golf at one point or another. But while continuing the non-competition in large championships, the questions whether Dustin Johnson will ever be Dustin Johnson again to grow loudly.
“Golf is a strange sport,” Johnson said before this year’s US Open at Oakmont. “I don’t feel like I have dropped any. My results haven’t reflected, but it’s a really good line. I remember a few years ago, I lost two cuts in a row. I think I shot 80-80, and then won next week. For me, it’s really close to being good, but just getting back there and keeping it in accordance with the last months I turn to good. ”
On Saturday, on a fierce Valderrama track, Dustin Johnson finally began to see the results, and the splendor that had been faded over the past few seasons began to return.
He will have a chance to win Sunday and enter the open championship week feeling as good as he has for a while. If he can do that, then Dustin Johnson may show that he still has more sand left at the hour than they believe.
